Craftsmanship
Accomplished (excellent)
The polygon was created by using a straight edge and the artist paid close attention to detail. The artist spent a lot of time pulling straight consistent lines. The artist used time wisely and took advantage of each art class. The artist followed instructions and presented a clean piece that was well taken care of. The paper isn't damaged and there are no smudges or accidental markings.
Skilled (good)
The polygon was created by using a straight edge, but there are some minor errors. The artist spent a lot of time on patterns, but the lines could have been a little better (some aren't very straight). The artist used most of their time wisely in class. The artist followed instructions and presented a clean piece with minor errors, damages, or accidental markings on the work.
Emerging (fair)
The polygon was created correctly, but the artist did not use a straight edge well or at all. Some of the interior shapes are hard to understand and patterns are a little sloppy. The artist needed to use time better. The paper and artwork has a few errors, accidental markings, and damages to art and paper. .
Limited (needs work)
The artist did not create a polygon or use a straight edge. The artist has sloppy interior shapes that are hard to understand. The artist did not use time wisely or follow instructions on using patterns and designs. There are a lot of errors, accidental markings, and damages to the art.
Shapes
Accomplished (excellent)
The artist was extremely thoughtful when creating the original polygon. The polygon has only straight sides and more than three sides. The polygon used most of the space on the paper and was extremely unique. The artist has good size shapes within the polygon and they are easy to see.
Skilled (good)
The artist has a good polygon that used most of the space wisely. The polygon has pretty straight lines and more than three sides. The artist used shapes in the interior, but could have made them a little clearer.
Emerging (fair)
The artist drew a pretty basic 3 to 4 side polygon and used minimal shapes in the interior or the shapes are hard to make out.
Limited (needs work)
Artist did not accurately use a polygon and did not accurately break down the interior into smaller shapes.
Creativity/ Originality
Accomplished (excellent)
The artwork demonstrates an outstanding amount of creativity. The polygon is extremely unique and thoughtful with a lot of fun angles. The artist broke down the interior into several fun and exciting shapes that capture the viewers attentions due to the interesting patterns created.
Skilled (good)
The artwork demonstrates a good amount of creativity. The polygon had multiple sides, but not a lot of extreme angles that jetted in and out. The artist did a good job breaking down the interior shapes and had patterns and designs that were creative, but lacked a unique quality.
Emerging (fair)
The artwork is semi creative because the shape is basic and the interior shapes did not break up the polygon in a fun capturing way. The shapes were minimal or sloppy and therefore hard to read. The student used basic designs and patterns and did not have many of them.
Limited (needs work)
The artwork lacks creativity and originality. The shapes are basic geometric shapes and very large or messy.
Color
Accomplished (excellent)
The artist used creative colors that popped and made the piece stand out. The artist was creative with how the colored in patterns and even showed some skill work on blending, shading, and color relationships.
Skilled (good)
The artist chose colors that worked well with each other. The artist used multiple colors, but didn't show any blending or shading.
Emerging (fair)
The artist used colors that were semi distracted.
Limited (needs work)
The patterns and design were minimal and the color used little to no color.
Patterns/Designs/Textures
Accomplished (excellent)
The artwork shows very clean and crisp pattern/design/texture artwork within each shape. The artist used different types of patterns for each shape. The artist kept straight lines when pulling the lines in the patterns. It's obvious the artist went a step further and googled patterns-textures for their piece.
Skilled (good)
The artwork shows patterns for each shape, but some are repetitive or your basic types of patterns. The artist has pretty good clean lines, but could have been straighter. The artist would have benefited from a little more research.
Emerging (fair)
The artwork has quite a few messy straight lines and a lot of repetitive patterns. The artist did not use a design for each shape. The artist did not take the time to google into.
Limited (needs work)
The artist has a very unclear direction and very minimal design/pattern work. The artist has many messy lines and did not take any time to google for inspiration.
