Music performance rubric
	Excellent 20 pts	Good 15 pts	Fair 10 pts	Weak 5 pts
Tone	Excellent Tone is consistently rich sounding and clear, throughout the range of the instrument; Tone has a strong and warm professional quality.	Good Tone is usually rich sounding and clear through the normal playing range of the instrument; Extremes in range sometimes cause tone to be less controlled.	Fair Tone is often focused, clear and centered, but sometimes uncontrolled in the normal playing range; Extremes in range are usually uncontrolled.	Weak The tone is often weak and not clear regardless of the range being played, significantly detracting from the overall performance
Pitch/Tune Accuracy	Excellent Confidently performed all pitches correctly in tune; tuning is solid throughout the full range of the instrument	Good Performed most of the pitches correctly in tune with only a few errors	Fair Many of the pitches are performed out of tune, especially high and low pitches	Weak Most pitches throughout the full range of the instrument are performed out of tune
Rhythmic Accuracy	Excellent Confidently performs all rhythms correctly, with a steady, solid tempo	Good Most of the rhythms are performed correctly with only a few errors.	Fair Some basic rhythms are performed correctly; however, has challenges with some rhythms in specific measures.	Weak Most of the rhythms in musical score are performed incorrectly.
Note Accuracy	Excellent Notes are consistently played accurately; student knows the music well	Good An occasional inaccurate note is played, but does not detract from overall performance.	Fair A few inaccurate notes are played, detracting somewhat from the overall performance.	Weak Wrong notes consistently detract from the performance; student does not know the music
Style/Interpretation	Excellent The performance of the piece is beautifully executed with both appropriate style and interpretation.	Good Most of the piece is performed using correct style and interpretation.	Fair Some parts of the piece are performed using both style and interpretation.	Weak The style and interpretation of the piece is not executed during performance.
Musicianship	Excellent Student performs the piece with appropriate dynamics, phrasings, articulation, and confidence	Good Most of the dynamics are followed, and most of the articulation signs are observed. Most phrases are performed correctly with confidence	Fair Some dynamics are observed; Some articulation is performed; Some phrases are complete and musically accurate.	Weak No dynamics. No use of articulation. Most phrases are performed incorrectly; performance lacks confidence
