Ode Poem Assignment Ode Poem Assignment Write an ode about your favorite food . Incorporate the elements of poetry we discussed in class. Include at least 1 example of figurative language: metaphor, simile, idiom, personification, imagery, onomatopoeia, and alliteration, etc. Grammar should be used correctly; if you use slang, the grammar should be appropriate for the topic. Creativity	Exceeds Poem is creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and uniquely conveyed their ideas and emotions.	Meets Poem is thoughtful and creative. A couple of phrases or ideas could be better, but overall it is very well done.	Approaches Most of the poem is creative, but the poem seems rushed.	Below Standards Poems appear to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive, and ideas are unoriginal.
Figurative Language	Exceeds At least three different kinds of figurative language are used. Poem is full of figurative language!!	Meets At least two different kinds of figurative language are used.	Approaches At least one instance of figurative language -- the poem would be better if more were used.	Below Standards There is no figurative language in the poem.
Conventions	Exceeds Proper use of English spelling and grammar is used consistently throughout each poem and paragraph to follow. Punctuation is utilized when necessary.
