Food Chain & Flow of Energy Food Chain Collage Students will create a food chain diagram. They will show at least 3 animals, one type of producer and the sun as the source of all energy. The food chain should show the flow of energy and the direction in which it travels. Students must write the name of the organisms and label them as consumers and producer. Organization	Excellent Food chain is well-organized, easy to follow and shows understanding.	Good Food chain is somewhat well-organized, shows some understanding and is somewhat challenging to follow.	Fair Food chain lacks organization, is very difficult to follow and shows poor understanding.	Poor Food chain has no organization except for 1 or 2 positions and shows little to no understanding.
Labeling	Excellent Each link is properly labeled indicating both the type of organism and whether it is a producer or consumer.	Good Each link is somewhat properly labeled. Some organism names or producer/consumer are missing.	Fair Links have little labeling (except for 1 or 2 links).	Poor Labels are missing.
Content - Accuracy	Excellent All food chain connections are displayed accurately.	Good Most food chain connections are displayed accurately.	Fair Two of the food chain connections are displayed accurately.	Poor None of the food chain connections are displayed accurately.
Neatness & Effort	Excellent The food chain diagram is neat and colorful and the student put forth their best effort. Very pleasing diagram to look at!	Good The food chain diagram is mostly neat and/or the student put forth a good effort.	Fair The food chain diagram is not very neat and/or the student put forth very little effort. Not pleasing to view.	Poor The food chain diagram is not neat and/or the student put forth hardly any effort.
The Sun	Excellent The sun is accurately shown to be the source of energy for all living things. It is at the beginning of the food chain.	Good The sun in shown to be the source of energy of all living things and is close to the beginning of the food chain.	Fair The sun is shown as part of the food chain but not at the beginning.	Poor The sun is not in the food chain.
