Reflection/Critical Thinking Reflection/Critical Thinking In this lesson students will be researching what life was like in the South America and Africa during the Transatlantic Slave Trade. At the conclusion of their research, students will work in groups to complete a game, comparing and contrasting some decisions they could have made. Depth of Reflection	Exceeds Expectations Demonstrates a perceptive and thoughtful understanding of the subject matter/topic. Consistently makes insightful and applicable connections.	Meets Expectations Demonstrates a basic understanding of the subject matter/topic. Frequently makes applicable connections.	Progressing Demonstrates a limited understanding of the subject matter/topic. Applicable connections made, however, consistency and relevance may be lacking.	Needs Improvement Demonstrates little to no understanding of the subject matter/topic. Reflection may be unfocused, ambiguous, and/or irrelevant. Few/no attempt(s) made at connection.
Voice	Exceeds Expectations Student voice fits the purpose and outcome of the assignment/reflection. Writing appears meaningful and deliberate.	Meets Expectations Overall student voice fits the purpose and outcome of the assignment/reflection; however, inconsistencies may be present.	Progressing Student voice is marginally developed. Tone is appropriate for some of the outcomes of the assignment/reflection.	Needs Improvement Student voice falters often and may be inappropriate. Assignment/ reflection purpose and outcome are not met.
