	Poor A poor job of providing the required information is performed by the writer. (N/A)	Fair The assigned category needs work. (N/A)	Good The writer does a good job applying the category to the journal article. (N/A)	Excellent The writer completely covers all required information. (N/A)
APA reference citation and grammar. 2 pts The article is correctly referenced according to APA 6th edition guidelines. The writer uses standard English and correct grammar throughout the critique.	Poor No attempt is made at referencing according to APA 6th edition guidelines.	Fair The reference citation has more than one error as it is written. There are numerous grammar and spelling errors.	Good The reference citation has one error. There are some spelling and grammar errors throughout the paper	Excellent No errors exist in the citation or in grammar and spelling.
Summary 3 pts A brief summary of the article is included in the critique. The summary is no longer than one paragraph.	Poor No summary is given.	Fair A summary of the article is attempted, but is severly lacking in more than one area.	Good A summary of the article is provided, but is lacking in one area.	Excellent A brief (one page) summary of the article is given with all the required information.
Implications 3 pts The critique contains information on how this topic might apply to future research.	Poor No implications are mentioned.	Fair One implication is mentioned, but is poorly developed in the critique.	Good One or more implications are given and are sufficently clarified.	Excellent Implications are clearly explicated and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Page requirement has been met based on the assignment.
Discussion 2 pts The individual posts on at least one other students' summary and presents information that expands upon the original post.	Poor The student does not post.	Fair The student provides one post, but it does not meet the requirements or does not expand upon the original post.	Good The student provides one post that sufficiently expands upon the original post.	Excellent The student provides one or more posts and they fully expand upon the original post showing that the student has thought critically about the information presented both in the article and in the original post.
