	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Proficient 3 pts	Advanced 4 pts
Prediction	Poor Student does not include an idea relating to the title, key words, or illustration.	Fair Student creates one or two sentences that only includes a repeat of the title. May also include errors in the sentence construction.	Proficient Student has given a clear idea in two or three sentences what the reading could be about. Writes neatly and there are few errors in construction.	Advanced Student includes a clear idea of what the reading may be about. Includes a key word used properly. Few or no errors in contruction.
Expression	Poor Student reads at a pace that is not consistent with their reading level. Little expression present while reading and includes improper breaks in reading.	Fair Student reads at an adequate pace for their level. Student has minimal or no expression in reading. Does pause at proper areas in selection.	Proficient Student reads at a consistent pace with reasonable expression for the selection. Pases when necessary.	Advanced Student presents above grade level expression and fluency.
Retell	Poor Little to no content that is relevant to the selection. May include minor details or restatements. Acceptable writing conventions are not present.	Fair Retell includes 3-5 sentences that relate to the story. Does not include main idea or lacks detail. Several errors in grade level writing expectations.	Proficient Retell includes 3-5 well constructed sentences. Minimal errors in structure and clearly states the main idea and a few details.	Advanced Retell includes 3-5 well constructed sentences. It includes the main idea, main story details, and has few to no errors.
