Final Salsa Assessment: Phase 1 Students will demonstrate the basic steps of Salsa with correct timing. Rubric Code: G2XWBWB By BLombardi91 Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Dance Type: Assessment Grade Levels: 9-12

Phase 1: Basic Steps and Rhythm Students will be assessed based on their demonstration of the Mambo, Cumbia and New York Style Salsa basic steps. Along with their footwork, their ability to follow the rhythm of the music will be a part of their overall performance grade.
	Poor Student does not demonstrate this skill properly. 10 pts	Fair Student is starting to understand the concept of this skill. 20 pts	Good Student is confident in performing this skill efficiently. 30 pts
Mambo and Cumbia Basic Steps Mambo (back and forth) step and the Cumbia (cross back) step. The feet are placed directly underneath the hips and the knees are bent for a more natural movement.	Poor	Fair	Good
Advanced Basic Step Rhythm is on the 1 beat; steps back(R), back(L) forward(R) forward break(L), back(R), back(L)	Poor	Fair	Good
