BEGINNING

PROFICIENT
Smash is taken from every area of the court, mechanics look like the overhead clear, contact is made without a straight elbow, racket face is pointed downward, follow through is downward across the body, shuttle land inbounds, but may be returnable.
EXEMPLARY
Smash is taken no further than 3/4 court, mechanics look like the overhead clear, contact is made above the head, in front of the body, with straight elbow. Racket face is pointed downward, follow through is downward across the body, shuttle lands inbounds and is unable to be returned.
Drive
BEGINNING
Little recognition of opportunity to perform a drive shot.
DEVELOPING
Drive is contacted lower than head level. and may not make it over the net.
PROFICIENT
Drive is contacted around head height, in front of body. The power of the shot allows for a return. The drive is directed towards opponent.
EXEMPLARY
Drive is contacted around head height, in front of body. The power of the shot makes it difficult to return. The drive is directed towards opponents chest.
