FFMHS Chorus-Sight Singing Assessment 
6th-12th graders will sing and record a sight singing exercise during class. Each student must pass off this level in order to advance to the next level by the end of the current quarter. In order to do this, a minimum score of 2.95 which will be rounded up to a 3, must be attained in order to go to the next level. This is a summative assessment.

Steady Beat

Student is NOT ABLE to sing the selected exercise with a steady beat at this time. There are 5 or more hesitations or pauses in the beat.

Student sometimes sings with a steady beat. There are 3-4 steady beat mistakes that DO take away from the overall performance.

Student MOSTLY sings with a steady beat. There are 1-2 steady beat mistakes that do not take away from the overall performance.

Student ALWAYS sings with a steady beat. It is smooth and there are no steady beat mistakes.
Rhythm

Student is NOT ABLE to sing rhythms accurately at this time. There are 5 or more rhythmic mistakes.

Student SOMETIMES sings the rhythms accurately. There are 3-4 rhythmic mistakes, and the rhythmic mistakes take away from the overall performance.

Student MOSTLY sings the rhythms accurately. There are 1-2 rhythmic mistakes and the rhythmic mistakes do not take away from the overall performance.

Student ALWAYS sings the rhythms accurately in the selected sight reading exercise. There are no rhythmic mistakes.

Pitch (intonation)

Student is NOT ABLE to sing the correct pitches at this time. The student may/may not be able to match any pitches.

Student SOMETIMES sings the correct pitches. There were 3-4 pitch mistakes. The exercise was SOMETIMES in tune but mistakes DID detract from the overall performance.

Student MOSTLY sings the correct pitches. There were 1-2 pitch mistakes. The exercise was MOSTLY in tune and the mistakes did NOT detract from the overall performance.
