Student engages in learning and participates both solo and within a group to practice the concepts taught.
Student plays with "SWEET BEETS" tempo in time and on tempo. Student is able to recognize rests and say "Shh" at the correct time.
Students will compose simple 4/4 rhythms using non-traditional music notation (quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests). Student can clap rhythms composed by classmates using Kodaly signs.
Students are given the opportunity to identify and describe various musical elements such as rhythmic patterns, melodic patterns and form. They distinguish between a range of instrumental sounds and respond to different styles of music, as well as to music from different times and cultures.
Student is able to sing on pitch and with classmates in the correct tempo.
