Students will demonstrate their understanding of multiplication and division by selecting images that display the equation. In addition, they will take a word problem and make a solvable equation out of it.

The student provides some assistance to the group, but could have voiced their opinions and vision for the puzzle more. Their feedback to their partner during the think-pair-share is lacking.
Beginning

The student piggybacks off of their partners and does not provide their own assistance and thinking in the creation of the puzzle. They do not provide feedback during the think-pair-share.
Conceptual Understanding

The student shows evidence of thinking through a process to create a word problem puzzle using the provided problem and collaboration with their group members (e.g., student creates visual model to make sense of information). (Guided practice section)

The student worked with their team members to draw out an array or image, the equation, and the final answer to fit with their puzzle. The puzzle pieces were accurate.

The student uses creativity and mathematical thinking to compute a word-problem puzzle of their own.
