How does my effort reflect my grade? 
The following rubric is so students and parents will know what is expected of students regarding participation, cooperation, individual work. Students can use this rubric to keep track of how they are performing with regards to their effort and expected outcome in the class.

Effort/Participation

Classes will provide students with what students provide to the class.

Not Acceptable

Does not complete tasks or assignments. Seldom participates in class. Does not take advantage of class time given to work on assignments. Does not ask questions unless required.
Major Corrections Needed

Does just enough to get by. Completes some tasks, but with little to no effort. Student participates very little in class and could improve amount of focus during class; does not take advantage of time to work on homework assignments in class. Does not ask questions unless required. Little to no effort put into the material outside of class time.
Some Corrections Needed

Completes most tasks, but only with moderate effort. Participates little during class and often not dedicating full focus to the class. Sometimes checks answers, but needs to spend more time correcting work. Does not ask questions when needed. Little effort put into the material outside of class time.
Meets Expectation

Completes tasks in timely manner. Participates during some of class time. Usually checks answers when given; sometimes corrects work. Asks questions when needing assistance. Puts some effort into the material outside of class time.
Exceeds Expectation

Is proactive about completing assignments on time or early. Actively and often participates in class; checks homework answers and corrects mistakes; does not lose focus during class. Spends class time working diligently on assignments and asking questions if needed. Takes initiative and puts much effort into the material outside of class time.
Cooperation

Students should be able to get along with others, share and listen to ideas, and follow class rules.

Not Acceptable

Does not follow directions and rules. Argues with classmates or teacher. Distracts others often.
Major Corrections Needed

Follows directions and rules 60% of class time. Argues with classmates or teacher. Is reluctant to cooperate with others during learning. Distracts others from learning.
Some Corrections Needed

Usually follows directions and rules but needs to cooperate more with teacher and/or classmates. Unproductive interaction with others during class time.
Meets Expectation

Follows directions and rules for the majority of class. Listens to and shares ideas. Does not distract others from learning.
Exceeds Expectation

Follows directions and rules entire class time; is not argumentative. Listens to and shares ideas. Does not distract others from learning.
Individual Assignments

Students should be able to demonstrate evidence of understanding in their assignments.

Not Acceptable

Several assignments not completed. Put forth little to no effort. Work shows VERY POOR evidence of learning and no evidence of correcting.
Major Corrections Needed

Assignments completed partially or with minimal effort. Work shows POOR evidence of learning and no evidence of correcting.
Some Corrections Needed

Most assignments completed with several errors. Work shows AVERAGE evidence of learning and minimal corrections for learning. Work sometimes late or incomplete.
Meets Expectation

All assignments completed but with some errors. Work shows GOOD evidence of learning and correction for learning. Put forth a good effort. Work is rarely or never late.
Exceeds Expectation

All assignments completed with no/few errors. Work shows EXCELLENT evidence of learning and corrections for learning. Showed work on assignment. Put forth a lot of effort. Work is always neat and on time.
