Word Problems Word Problems Students will solve word problems using math strategies. Students will be able to explain in writing how they found the answers, and will choose the correct operation(s) to solve the problem and compare place value in a given numbers. Word Problems

Key Words	3 Key words are underlined or written.	2 Key words are not all underlined or written.	1 Key words are not underlined or written and/or the wrong words are underlined.
Number Sentence	3 The math problem is written correctly including +,-,x, -, and = sign.	2 The math problem is mostly written correctly or an incorrect math problem is written.	1 The math problem is not written.
Strategy	3 The strategy used matches the math problem correctly.	2 A strategy was used but does not match the problem.	1 No strategy is used. The strategy does not match the math problem or answer.
Explanation	3 The student explained their work. Explanation is fully correct, and matches the problem	2 The student explained their work. Explanation is NOT fully correct, or does not match the problem.	1 The student did not explain their work.
Place Value	3 The student identified the correct place value in the given numbers and was able to compare numbers.	2 The student identified one correct place value in given numbers was abl;e to slightly compare numbers.	1 The student did not correctly identify the place values of given numbers and incorrectly compared the numbers.
