Inference Inference Students will infer (using their background knowledge and specific clues from the situation they have read about. This will be assessed through the students ability to use the inferring (Background Knowledge + Clues = Inference). Students will answer questions and clearly explain their reasoning using specific text reference. Inferring
	Poor 5 pts	Fair 6 pts	Good 10 pts
Background Knowledge	Poor Does not use background knowledge or uses background knowledge inappropriately	Fair Uses relevant background knowledge that supports text	Good Connects the clues and their background knowledge or ideas and beliefs to draw a relevant/ realistic conclusion.
Clues	Poor Does not use the clues or uses the clues inappropriately to draw an inference	Fair Draws conclusions or makes predictions that are consistent with the clues but must be more specicif with text reference.	Good Explains the source of the conclusions or predictions using specific reference to the text (paraphrasing or direct citations).
