Thesis Statement

Excellent

The thesis statement names the topic of the essay and outlines the main points to be discussed.
Good

The thesis statement names the topic of the essay. It does not clearlt outline the main points of the essay.
Fair

The thesis statement outlines some of the main points to be discussed but does not name the topic. It needs a significant amount of work.
Poor

The thesis statement does not name the topic and does not preview what will be discussed. The thesis is weak/or not easy to identify.
Persuasive Element

Excellent

All Persuasive techniques are included. Specific details point to great support. Position is clearly stated and consistently maintained.
