Letter Home Rubric 
The students have to act as a passenger on the Middle Passage. They have to write a letter home to their loved ones explaining their experiences they have faced, whether are happy with their experience or not.

Students letter is very organized where their thoughts go in chronological order and make sense to the reader.

Students letter is organized but they might have scattered facts and is a little unorganized and confusing for the reader.

Students letter lacks any sort of organization. The facts they have are scattered all over the letter and the letter doesnt make any sense.
Content

Exceeds Expectation

Student letter contains information and several key ideas from the whole experience. Including getting on the ship and the experiences once they were aboard.
Meets Expectation

Students letter contains some key ideas but might have left one or two ideas out. They might not have given their reaction to what they went through.
Does not meet Expectation

Students letter contains little to no key ideas. They didnt include a reaction to what they went through.

Students letter is well written, has little to no grammatical and spelling errors.
Meets Expectation

Students letter is easy to read, but has some grammatical and spelling errors.
Does not meet Expectation

Students letter is difficult to read due to many grammatical and spelling errors.
