French Conversation
This rubric will assess the variety of vocabulary, particularly what we studied, use of complete sentences, use of accurate grammar, especially what we studied but also cumulatively, use topics that we learned in class, willingness to participate and make changes as suggested by teacher, and level of understanding by classmates

Conversation uses few grammar structures, or has many grammatical mistakes.

Conversation uses the basic grammar we studied, and has some mistakes.

Conversation imitates examples from our book or others we have seen in class almost word by word.
Fair
Parts of the conversation imitate examples we have seen in class or in our book, but at least some parts are original.
Good
The conversation does not imitate models we have already seen, and holds our interest.
Advanced
The conversation surprises us, makes us laugh, or is convincingly realistic as well as unexpectedly impressive!
Communication
Basic
Conversation is not spontaneous and classmates and teacher are unable to follow along. Very frequent pauses. Frequent use of English. Short utterances and many errors.
Fair
Some spontaneity. Classmates and teacher understand less than half of the ideas. Many pauses and use of English. Some full sentences are used with many errors.
Good
Conversation is fairly spontaneous and allows classmates and teacher to follow along and understand more than half of the ideas. Few pauses create some fluidity in the conversation. Almost no English. Full sentences are used with few errors.
Advanced
Conversation is spontaneous at all times. Classmates and teacher understand all the ideas. Fluidity in the conversation. No English. Full sentences are used with no errors.
