This is the rubric used to evaluate students on their creation of a mountain bike trail.

Student rarely shared ideas, didn't help group stay on task or was off task themselves, didn't accept responsibility for my actions or the actions of my group.

In addition to mastery:
-Always was prepared for class.
-Went above and beyond their required work.
-Compromised for the good of the group.
Mastery
Student would follow directions, support group decisions, did their share of work and was prepared for class.
Novice
Student may not have done one or more of:
-Not following directions.
-Not supporting group decions.
-Did not do the share of work or wasn't prepared for class.
Map
Distinguished
Students map is very detailed and includes a legend, locations or landmarks, all angles are included and labeled, both sets of required lines, the trail is between 1200-2000 feet and the use of scale is accurate and measured precisely.
Mastery
The map may be "generic" looking or the measurement is not precise in which the scale is not 100% accurate.
All required elements from the "task" page are included.
Novice
The measurement is not accurate and the map is generic looking (lacking detail), student is missing one or more of the required elements from the "task" page.
Writing Piece
Distinguished
Student has included a very well though out writing piece that answers the BIG QUESTION. This writing piece answers the question in detail, includes:
-An introduction.
-Three detailed facts to support their answer.
-Personal reflection to the Big Question.
-Conclusion that restates the question, answer and has a final thought.
Mastery
Student has included a writing piece but is missing one of the required elements: Introduction, 3 detailed facts, a personal reflection or a conclusion.
Novice
Student is missing two or more of the required elements or did not submit a writing piece.
