Reading Fluency
	Mastery 3 pts	Emerging 2 pts	Beginning 1 pts
Expression/ Volume	Mastery Reader sounds like natural speaking. Listener is interested reader applies reading styles ; Questions , exclamation, negating etc. Reader has great volume and is easily understood by all.	Emerging Reader sometimes sounds like natural speaking Listener has some interest. reader sometimes applies reading styles. Reader is a little quiet but still understood.	Beginning Reader does not sound like natural speaking. Reader is too quiet. reader does not apply reading styles. Listener is bored.
Punctuation	Mastery Reader pays attention to punctuation, pausing and stopping at appropriate places. Reader has perfect pronunciation in all letters, and applies (tanween and harakat) and types of (Madd) and (hamza )	Emerging Reader pays some attention to punctuation, occasionally stopping and pausing at inappropriate places. Reader has some pronunciation difficulties in some letters, and makes some mistakes in (tanween and harakat) and types of (Madd) and (hamza )	Beginning Reader does not pay attention to punctuation, stopping and pausing in inappropriate places. Readers pronunciation is poor and makes many mistakes in pronunciation.
Phrasing/ Accuracy	Mastery Reader reads in smooth phrases. Reader makes no long pauses, false starts, sound-outs, repetitions, and/or multiple attempts as they are reading.	Emerging Reading sounds choppy and broken up. Reader makes a few (4 or less) long pauses, false starts, sound-outs, repetitions, and/or multiple attempts as they are reading.	Beginning Reader often reads word-by-word. Reader makes multiple (>4)long pauses, false starts, sound-outs, repetitions, and/or multiple attempts as they are reading.
Rate	Mastery Reader reads at a good rate, making it easy for the listener to understand.	Emerging Reader reads at a good rate most of the time, occasionally reading too fast or too slow. Listener occasionally has difficulty understanding the reader.	Beginning Reader reads too slow or too fast throughout the reading, making it difficult for the listener to understand.
