Mastery

Fully developed their presentation above and beyond the content expectations with a strong hook, thesis, and call to action. Excellent research and use of rhetoric added a lot to the presentation.
Confidence

Not Acceptable

Lacked in enthusiasm, body language, preparation, and/or confidence about the topic. Not enough effort displayed.
Acceptable

Showed confidence and preparation in their presentation. May not have "made it their own". Adequate effort displayed.
Proficient

Showed good confidence and preparation in their presentation. May not have mastered the topic, but fully engaged the audience. Great effort!
Mastery

Had pace, eye contact, gestures, and presence that demonstrated mastery of the topic and confidence to present it. Perfect!
Clarity

Not Acceptable

Voice, tone, diction, and flow were unprepared, unclear, and/or inappropriate.
Acceptable

Spoke clearly enough, but may have struggled at times.
Proficient

Spoke eloquently and clear, with a natural pace and engagement. Obviously rehearsed.
Mastery

Completely natural and "off-script" speaking ability. They presented the information in an engaging way that told a clear story, using tone, pitch, and diction to get their point across.
Clock

Not Acceptable

Was just short of the time expectation or well over the time expectation.
Acceptable

Hit the time expected or went over it.
Proficient

Was well within the time expectation.
Mastery

Made full use of time without going over.
Capture (visual)

Not Acceptable

Lacked an appropriate visual, did not follow visual guidelines in many ways, and/or was not able to utilize visual during their speech.
Acceptable

Had a visual that showed some information and interesting images, but may have lacked proper formatting, consistency, balance/flow/theme/harmony, and/or distracted more than reinforced.
Proficient

Visual was thoughtfully done to enhance the presentation and engage the audience fully. May not had all the expected elements, but used their visual well.
Mastery

Visual was thoughtfully woven together, telling a story that fully engaged the audience along with the speech. Student interacted with the visual and showed mastery of using a visual to enhance their presentation.
