Moon Journal Rubric Requirements

Cover Name Decorated	1 Does not include name and is not decorated at all.	2 Either does not include student's name or is not decorated.	3 Cover includes name and is decorated.	4 Cover includes student's name and is extremely colorful and decorated. The student adds extra details and decorations that are based on Objects in the Sky.
Journal Entries *Entries need to be at least 4 sentences in length.	1 Journal entries are missing, incomplete, or not on the right topic.	2 Most journal entries are included, but not all are the appropriate length, use minimal vocabulary, and do not include enough information.	3 Journal entries are complete, correct length, accurate, and use appropriate vocabulary and details.	4 Journal entries go beyond the required length. Entries include elaborate information, details, examples, and creativity. Student goes beyond the basic requirements.
Mini-Assignments *Equal 50 points	1 Student did not complete any mini-assignments.	2 Student completed mini-assignments that equaled 30 points	3 Student completed mini-assignments that equaled 50 points.	4 Student completed mini-assignments that equaled 50 points. Student went above and beyond making their mini assignments look good.
Grammar Correct spelling Correct punctuation	1 Majority of the words are misspelled, letters are not capitalized, and punctuation is missing.	2 Many of words are misspelled, some letters are not capitalized, and some punctuation is missing.	3 Almost all the words are spelled correctly, correct punctuation, capitalization, and correct sentence structure.	4 Student put in plenty of effort into editing their entries. All words are spelled correctly as well as the capitalization, punctuation, and sentence structure are correct.
Creativity Colorful Student includes extra media, pictures, or objects.	1 Student did not use any color or any other outside media or objects.	2 Student used a minimal amount of color and 1 or 2 pieces of outside media.	3 Journal is colorful and there is some evidence of outside media.	4 Journal is extremely colorful and decorated. Student went above and beyond making their journal look good!
