State of the Union Speech 
Students listen to and evaluate the President's State of the Union Speech. After rating the President using the rubric below, they write a paragraph considering some of the following: - What values and ideas does the speech invoke? - What impression does the President want to make? - What does he say to appear credible and trustworthy? - What common bond does he try to establish with the viewers? - What emotions or feelings is he trying to invoke in the viewers? - What did he NOT mention in this speech? Why do you think he omitted it?
