Understanding/ Comprehension	Poor Has limited knowledge and comprehension about the skill. Requires training/seminars or written information.	Fair Has basic knowledge and comprehension about the skill. Has attended a few seminars or trainings. More training is needed.	Good Has good knowledge and comprehension about the skill. Has attended several seminars or trainings. Has read some articles or books about the topic.	Excellent Has excellent knowledge and comprehension about the skill. Attends current seminars or trainings. Reads current articles about the topic.
Verbally communicates	Poor Verbally expresses limited information about the skill. Has no references concerning the skill.	Fair Expresses knowledge in basic terms after reviewing notes/articles. Refers to notes/articles after communication to check accuracy on a consistent basis.	Good Expresses knowledge in basic terms. May refer to notes prior to communication. May refer to notes/articles after communication to check accuracy.	Excellent Spontaneously and cohesively expresses knowledge in expert and basic terms dependent on audience. May refer to notes on occasion to refresh memory.
Applies	Poor Cannot apply knowledge and requires assistance from another knowledgable person.	Fair Refers to notes prior to application.
