Diorama: Book Report

The student will create a Diorama or 3D representation which includes a favorite scene in the book and an oral report describing the scene they chose (setting, important characters, how/why the scene was important to the plot), tell about the elements in their diorama and how they are related to the scene.

Diorama Construction	Excellent Your diorama is exceptionally attractive. Many different colors were used and all items are neat and securely attached.	Good Your diorama is attractive. Some different colors were used. Almost all items are neat and securely attached.	Satisfactory Your diorama is attractive. Very few colors were used. Not all items are securely attached; it's a bit messy.
Diorama Content	Excellent Your diorama clearly depicts a scene from the book. I am able to see that the characters and the landscape are from the book.	Good Your diorama somewhat depicts a scene from the book. I am able to tell that the characters and landscape are from the book.	Satisfactory I am not able to easily distinguish the scene as one from the book. Characters and landscape are not very recognizable.
Written Summary	Excellent Written summary includes the characters, setting, and plot. There are 0-3 spelling or grammar errors.	Good Missing one required element or has 3-6 grammar/spelling errors.	Satisfactory Missing two required elements and/or has 7-9 grammar/spelling errors..
Index card	Excellent Contains a few sentences about the diorama scene. Sentences are grammatically correct with no spelling errors.	Good Contains a few sentences about the diorama scene, but has spelling and/or grammar errors.	Satisfactory Sentences on the index card are not related to the diorama scene.
Oral Presentation	Excellent Student speaks clearly and is easy to understand. Student makes eye contact and is able to communicate about the book they read.	Good Students shows a clear understanding of their book, but does not speak up enough to be heard by everyone or does not make eye contact during presentation.	Satisfactory Student is difficult to hear and reads their entire presentation without making eye contact.
