Beginning
Student arrives late to class. May be missing materials he needs. Student needs extra cues and supports to begin /participate as expected. Does not orient body and eyes to speaker/group w/o consistent adult cuing.
Progressing
Student arrives on time 3/5 opportunities , enters the classroom with materials needed materials with no more than 2 adult cue. Responds to 3/5 cues to look up and listen to others with whole body listening.
Meets
Student arrives on time and enters the classroom prepared. He/she takes his seat. Position: eyes on teacher, ears with teacher, body upright and in direction of instructor/teacher and to the lesson/board. Student attends to visual information.

Beginning
Student employs unexpected behaviors during lesson given 3/5 observations. Student does not keep his attention focused upon the teacher/other students and needs more than 2 adult prompts to do so.. Student has difficulty employing appropriate voice volume, tone/register, as well as body control on 3/5 given opportunities.
Progressing
Student employs expected behaviors on 3/5 observed classes with no more than 2 adult prompts to maintain focus. Student is able to attend and participate with peers using appropriate volume, tone/register and body control with no more than 2 verbal prompts on 3/5 given observations
Meets
Student employs expected behaviors during the lesson and keeps his attention focused upon the teacher/other students in 8/10 given class periods . Student comments with appropriate voice volume, tone/register, and body control
Body Space
Beginning
Student requires 2+ cues from adult to maintain physical space from peers and teachers. Student requires adult support to wait on line without bumping or intruding on others on 3/5 given observations. Student has difficulty maintaining body position/posture throughout activities requiring 2+ prompts on 3/5 given opportunities
Progressing
Student is able to maintain physical space in defined areas (desk, table) but continues to need 2 or more prompts in less structured areas (floor, PE, cafeteria) in 3/5 observations. Student is able to maintain posture/ position with no more than 2 prompts on 3/5 observations
Meets
Student will monitor his physical presence/space in proximity to others' personal space. He can wait on line respecting personal space between and around him. He can maintain required position and posture throughout the activity on 8/10 given opportunities.
