IV pump infusion rate and limit were set, the correct fluids were spiked with the correct IV set, the fluids were ran through the line and no air was present

Calculations were correctly performed and drugs were drawn up correctly....correct size syringes were used.

Student had incorrect dosages calculated or drawn up, incorrect syringe sizes were used

Student chose correct size endotracheal tubes, had the ties, lidocaine for cats and laryngoscope ready.

Student had incorrect size endotracheal tubes out, 1 or more supplies were missing...laryngoscope, tie, lidocaine for cats

Student monitored patient during the surgery prep, recording all data and transferring it to the medical record.

The student did not successfully monitor the patient without prompting from instructor.

Student monitored patient both physically and with the help of mechanical monitors, did not need prompting to correct anesthetic related incidents or change isoflurane levels, acknowledged the DVM during surgery, filled out the anesthesia form completely and correctly.

Student did not physically monitor the patient but relied on the mechanical monitors, did not take initiative when the patient needed isoflurane levels changed, failed to record properly on the anesthesia form, missed more than 2 entries on the anesthesia form, did not acknowledge DVM on surgery start/finish times

Student was confident in the anesthesia role. No prompting was needed from instructor, student successfully monitored and recorded all data.

Student was not correctly monitoring patient, was upset/anxious and/or asked to leave the surgery. IF THIS HAPPENS DURING SURGERY, STUDENT WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR THE DAY.
