Their Eyes Were Watching God creative project options 2 &3. 2. Create a character interview: Write at least ten questions that will give the character the opportunity to discuss his/her thoughts and feelings about his/her role in the story. Your questions should go beyond the who, where, what and when and focus on the how and why. Your interview should include the character’s answers from his or her point of view 3. In this project you will create a scrap book from the point of view of Janie. Your scrap book must include 5-6 photos that represent an important event in the novel (with brief notations as to who is pictured and what event from the novel the photo represents), 2 news paper clippings which you will write (can be a news article, obituary or letter to the editor—But, each article must represent a different event and each type of article may only be used once.) and one diary entry from Janie’s point of view about an important event in the novel and her feelings.

Create a project or essay that describes your feelings about one theme from the memories that Jonas receives from the Giver. Explore what your life would be like without this memory (ex. color, love, loss, death, sadness, happiness, etc). Projects could include, but are not limited to, a 3-5 page essay, collage, painting, sculpture, oral presentation, board game, etc. Be creative! Your project can be whatever you choose as long as it meets the requirements shown below. Please create a short description of how your project idea meets each requirement, and then discuss this with me in a one-on-one conference to get your idea approved. Students who write essays will be able to turn in drafts in order to receive feedback before they turn in their final copy. Students who create projects will be able to schedule conferences with me in place of a draft in order to receive feedback.
