Critically appraised topic
A CAT is a short summary of the best available evidence, created to answer a specific clinical question. This type of paper provides students with an opportunity to research and develop an in-depth understanding of a clinical question. This includes an integrated critical appraisal of the scholarly literature that demonstrates an understanding of diverse research findings, and the ability to synthesize and draw one's own conclusions about the status of practice in a selected area.
