As a conclusion to learning the various methods of performing multiplication, a performance will be used to assess the readiness level of students. This performance will have students act out the real-life scenario of purchasing items at a bakery. Working in groups of three, the students will be required to "buy" multiple items and by using the three methods of multiplication that were taught; guess and check, long multiplication, and lattice multiplication, be able to correctly solve the problems and give the correct amount of "money" to the store clerk. The students will reenact this scenario ten times using different quantities of differently priced items. This demonstration will be scored with the following rubric.
