Dance Rubric

Students will explore the history of a specific sport. They will research the sport of choice and complete the sport report form in complete sentences.

Students create art by creating a character and designing a papier-mache mask and accompanying drama. Both art forms (visual and drama) must convey ideas about a myth. Students must base the myth on research about myths from various cultures and the mask design and decoration must use and combine three cultures as inspiration. The skit must be original and be an original myth. The mask must be the character planned for the each student mask designer to be in the skit.

(20 POINTS - 4 points each section) Below is a chart that shows you exactly how your class participation grade will be determined. All students are expected to participate in class! I do understand that some students are shy and participate in ways other than class discussion. Forms of participation other than participating in class discussion (although this is a primary form of participation) include coming to me for extra help, giving other students feedback in class, adhering to the no-voice and no-phone rule, consistent attendance, and being able to answer in-class ASL dialogue from both the teacher and other students. NOTE: If you get to the point of having a fair/poor participation grade in one or more areas, it will probably be recommended that you withdraw from the class, as you probably will not be able to keep up with the material. If a student is absent, s/he losts points on the punctuality grade rubric also.

Students will work with a partner to design a poster/collage honoring an assigned WWII Medal of Honor recipient.

Objective: Students will research how musical instruments make sounds and the four basic categories of musical instruments (string, wind, brass, and percussion). Students will construct and present a homemade musical instrument from recycled materials. They will be required to play a simple song on their instrument.

Students will be graded on paritcipation and effort throughout the school year in a variety of activities including (but not limited to): Warm Up, Volleyball, Fitness, Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, Racket games, Badminton, Basketball, Bowling, Bicycling, Dancing, Softball, and Yard games

The student will demonstrate the ability to catch a ball.
