The students will compare and contrast 2 books that they have read. They will include comparisons, contrasts, and the reading as non-fiction or fiction.

Students will solve word problems using pictures along with addition and subtraction sentences. Students will work fact families and 3 digit addition problems. 2.OA.1 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown.

Students will create a graphic organizer to demonstrate knowledge of main idea and detail while using a realistic fiction text of "What Ever Happened to the Baxter Place". The main idea and details will be the focus of the graphic organizer and the supporting details will be evidence. The student will include at least three supporting details. Illustrations will be added to the graphic organizer and must connect to the main idea as well.

Learning objective: Students will write their own narrative essay that incorporates the aspects of narrative writing discussed in class. Procedure: Students will write a narrative essay that tells of an important experience that happened to them. Students will use techniques discussed in class, including proper organization, strong word choices, and dialogue.

Students create a character drawing that outlines a character's traits using evidence from the text. Then write about the character traits and connect the evidence from the text to create a picture of the character.
