President Essay Rudric

The student will select a country and develop a detailed presentation based on their creation. The student will to be able to present facts about their created country’s resources, culture, government, religion, geography, political atmosphere, social events, recreational pastimes, history, economics, etc. After the student has developed a detailed description of their country, they will develop a poster board presentation about their country.

Every month the student will complete a book report on a library book at the sixth grade level. The student has chosen to participate in "Book It" this month. This option allows the student to complete a detailed report on a book of their choice. To receive credit the rubric must be attached to the top of the book report.

Report should include a colorful cover page with your name, the date, the title of the book, the author of the book, and an illustration and or picture. The first paragraph should include the title, author of the book, the genre, and a complete description of the main characters. Descriptive settings, a plot summary, and main events should be included. Why did you like or dislike the book? Would you recommend this book to others?

Students are required to answer questions each week related to what we have gone over in class. Answers must be written in complete sentences.

The students will work as a group to display a poster reflecting the past and present efforts our Veterans have done serving this country.

Set up your binder as directed in class. Your binder will be collected at least once every term, so please try and stay organized! Your binder will be evaluated on the following criteria:

The student groups will create a cereal box. The cereal box will contain information that the students had collected regarding their book report.

The students will work as a group to display a poster reflecting the IB Learner Profiles.

Students are to write a poem similar to "The Fog." by Carl Sandburg.

Students are to complete current events using the following rubric as part of their ongoing learning in Current Events.

Students chose a book to read independently and then review. The review incorporates information about the book's characters, setting, plot, genre, theme, and writing style.
