Research Paper Scoring Rubric

Students will sing a portion of 2 songs on which they worked during the quarter. They will be assessed on that performance and this rubric shows how that grade will be determined.

Choir Participation Rubric

Research one of the composers and the time period they composed during from our choir selections. Submit one 6-9 Paragraph paper, typed, and double spaced. Include a works cited page with at least 3 resources used researching the paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the topic, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and bibliography.

Students choose a famous person and conduct research and complete a biography research paper of the person's life.

You are the president of the United States. In the days following the protests and violence in Charlottesville, VA, the country is looking for peace, guidance, and reassurance. Give a 1 minute speech to the country offering words of peace and understanding, but citing at least one specific event from history.

Write a biography in your Google Drive of a noteworthy jazz musician from "A Great Day in Harlem" or a figure that contributed to the Harlem Renaissance. Biography should include important details of figures life and the contributions he/she made during his/her life. The biography will be written on this person including Personal information, qualities, and contributions. This biography needs to be at least 1 page, a photo, and a video OR audio hyperlink.

Students will write a 2 page review of the Black History Month Program covering all of the required content.

Students will assume the role of a salesperson. Students will select a product or solve a problem that they are passionate about and create a 30 second pitch. Audience must be able to identify the product, the need it fulfills, the targeted audience, and the benefit.

Students will create two verses for the song, "We Shall Overcome". Following the established pattern, the verse will contain a correctly-spelled verse, with 3-5 words using exactly five syllables (like, 'we are not a-fraid'). Verse must be relevant to the song, and students must explain why they chose the lyrics they did. Students will then perform their new verse either as a soloist,with the harmonies previously taught, or an original adaptation

Write a persuasive argument using one of the given prompts. The persuasive essay must contain at least 3 fully developed supporting paragraphs. The paper must include proper sources and MLA citations.

This rubric is used to score the auditions of the musical auditions.

Musical Theater Audition-Solo

This outlines what students need to do to obtain top marks for the rehearsal portion of their grade.

General Music research and present information on the music as it relates to culture of another country.

A project on one performer or band performing Protest Music. Give details about one protest song, group members, style, members' lives, their influences and why they are popular.

Write a 1 page typed or 2 page written reflection paper with the following thesis question: "Why Was Music So Important during the Civil Rights Movement?" Your paper must include at least 3 specific song titles, and must reference information from class lectures, films, lyrics analysis, and the film "Soundtrack for a Revolution." Your paper must include both an introduction and conclusion paragraph. PAPERS ARE DUE: MONDAY MARCH 9TH
