This rubric is meant to help guide in the creation of your Macromolecules final project. Each category in the far left column represents a component of the project that will be taken into consideration when composing the final grade for this assignment. Review the rubric carefully before, during and after the creation of the your Poster, to ensure that all intended elements of your destination have been represented and all other criteria have been met.

Presentation Rubric

In this project, you will be creating a poster to teach the viewer how to balance chemical equations. Directions: 1. Layout your poster on the back of this page. 2. Write clear, simple instructions on how to balance a chemical reaction, using at least one reaction as an example. 3. Include a minimum of 3 chemical equations total. 4. You should use one of your equations for the viewer to solve (hide answers in a flip-up, etc.). 5. You may not use any chemical equations used by anyone else in the class. Check the lists to make sure that you aren’t duplicating someone else and then add your reactions to the lists. 6. Include the balanced answers to all of the equations. 7. Attach this sheet to the back of your poster. Bonus opportunity! • If one of your demonstrated equations contains one or more polyatomic ions. Remember to make your poster: ? easy-to-read (large, clear, uncluttered, writing) ? colorful & attractive ? neat ? informative

In this project you will investigate the chemistry of common household products. You are responsible to do: • Choose one personal hygiene product • Choose one household cleaning product • Use (http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/index.htm) to research any two ingredients from each product (total of 4 chemicals) to do the following: o Determine the empirical formula o Determine its use or purpose o Determine its chemical and physical properties. o Determine any hazards or cautions associated with the ingredient. • Create a self-contained presentation of your research. Your display must include the following components: o An esthetically pleasing appearance o The title “Household Chemistry…” & creative sub-title. • Pictures of your products • An introduction. This should be a written paragraph introducing the idea that chemistry is instrumental in the development and improvement of many of the products that we use every day.

Fable book created to personify the elements of the periodic table and the properties of Chemical Bonding.

In this project, you will be creating a poster to demonstrate your knowledge of chemical reactions. Your group will be assigned one type of reaction and asked to create a poster based on that reaction type. Below is a list of what should be included on the poster. • Title that includes the reaction name • A detailed description of the reaction • Example of a representative reaction with a balanced equation • Picture of a reaction • The patterns that allow you to identify the reaction types from a chemical equation • 2 examples not used in any of the above requirements

Students use recycled materials to create something useful. Accompanying their project will be a brochure selling their new product. Most of this brochure will be completed in class. However, before the final brochure is due editing and completion will be done at home. The entire project is due April 21.

The students will design a travel guide with information about a specific biome and the country that it is in.
