Students will work in groups of at least 6 to create an original choreographic movement sequence. They must choose school appropriate music and movement, a minimum of 2 minutes of choreography and proof of every group member's choreographic contribution.

Research and Present information on the history of any dance form/style, that includes visual aide and video reference.

The criteria for the students in Dance Techniques Classes focuses on technique, performance quality, choreographic skills, and working as an artist and student.

Students are to create a solo project that is at least 2 1/2 minutes long but no longer than 5. The dance needs to have a noticeable beginning, middle, and end. Students will apply the creative process to the composition of phrase material, using the elements of dance to communicate feelings and ideas. Student will use structure and craft in their work as discussed in class

Rubric for 8th grade auditions: 14-16 = Great candidate for Dance SLC 10-13 = Will consider for Dance SLC 4-9 = Will not conducer for Dance SLC

Students will work in groups to develop a well choreographed dance. Students will develop a dance that must portray at least 10 or more choreographic elements. The team will design and perform choreography. Dance must have a minimum of 16 steps

Assessment of improvement made over the semester for an intermediate level ballet class.

DANCE TERMINOLOGY RUBRIC For CELE-WOODMERE

Prepare a detailed PowerPoint/Prezi presentation from the dancer you chose. Prepare a 20 slide Power-point/Prezi including pictures, facts, and at least 2 videos that are 1-2 minutes minutes in length. All instructions are available on CTLS.

Prepare a detailed PowerPoint/Prezi (or any other presentation platform) presentation from the genre you chose. Prepare a minimum 17-slide presentation including 2 dance videos, 2 music videos (both of which need to be school appropriate), a video of you performing, or a video depicting the artwork you choose to design that depicts your genre in picture. You must have a title page with byline and a resource page with at least 3 different resources from which you received information.

This rubric will be used by students to peer assess other students in class choreography. In order to fully assess they must look for the criteria listed in the rubric. This rubric will also be used by the instructor to assess knowledge of choreography.

Students are to select music and prepare on their own a solo/ensemble. Ensembles may have 3-6 people in each group. Soloists do not have to perform with an accompanist unless they will be performing their solo to the District festival. Time will be provided in class to rehearse with their ensembles on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Extra time with the teachers is available before and after school upon request.
