Information: What is energy and ways to conserve it?
The students have learned about energy, what it is, different types and ways to conserve it. The students will write an information essay describing what is energy and ways to conserve it.
Continents and Oceans

Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud
This rubric is used to score students' monthly book projects based on their comprehension of the read aloud. The students will respond to a writing prompts to show ways to identify a "bucket filler". Students writing should be neat. It should also demonstrate proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
What I Did On My Summer Vacation writing and illustration
First writing assignment of the year for portfolio. Write about what you did on your summer vacations. Students shoud show a beginning, middle, and an ending. Students should use proper grammar (past tense) usage, and appropriate vocabulary usage. Your writing should be related to your summer vacation. Create an illustration to go with yoru writing.
Plant and Animal Cell Illustration Rubric
Students must illustrate a plant and animal cell , label parts of the cell and write two paragraphs comparing the 2 cells.

The students of class will begin to learn about Peru. The students watched 2 videos and read a short article. After on loose leaf the students will write and answer questions related to the article. The students will also add fun facts learned from the video. BE CREATIVE!
The Great Wall of China
Working in groups of three to four, students will work collaboratively to make a poster giving information about the Great Wall of China.
Groups of students will discover facts about The Great Wall of China. The groups are expected to give key facts about the wall. When is was built and why was it built. Students will create a infomation poster.
The Water Cycle Project Rubric

Literary Analysis Essay Rubric
After reading a short article titled "Celebrating Black History" the students in class 3-317 were asked write a literary essay answering; what is black history and why do we celebrate it?
African American Inventors
From a list of many black inventors class 3-317 is to choose one and research them. The students are to write a one page report on their lives and recreate their invention using any materials.
Black History Month Comparative Opinion Essay
Students will research the lives of African Americans who have made special contributions to American life and society. Students will use biographical information to highlight each person’s contribution. Students’ writing will include a comparative opinion piece that demonstrates how we honor our past, celebrate our present and embrace our future. In addition, student will include a picture of each subject and one of themselves as they create a mini-monument to add to their writing piece.
Basic Writing Rubric: Grammar/Punctuation/Spelling
The students learned about Dr. Martin Luther King. The students watched a “Brain Pop” video giving them information about who he was and what he stood for. They then read an article about him as well. Thinking about the information that was given to them about Martin Luther King, the students were asked to respond to a set of questions.
Falling for Math Strategies
Students will calculate the products of a multiplication number sentence using a variety of strategies. Strategies include repeated addition, array, equal group, and a number line. the students will solve 7x9.
Group Poster Rubric
Working in groups 8, students will work collaboratively on a poster about winter holidays.. The students of class 3-317 used what they have learned to make a poster to teach about some winter holidays. The students worked in a group to complete the task. In each group EVERYONE had to participate. The students were asked to: • Give their poster a title • Add text features • Tell what the holiday is and discuss important facts about the holiday-such as colors, clothes, foods, symbols
