DANCE PERFORMANCE RUBRIC For Dance: Level 1

Jazz Warm-Up Parts 1 & 2 Test

Students are asked to create a one minute solo of modern dance choreography based on the theme: Who am I? Then students are grouped into three follow-up tasks: writing an essay detailing the solo; notating the choreography utilizing the Labanotation system; designing a costume that would be appropriate for the solo.

Students will work in groups of 2 to develop a well choreographed dance. Students will choose their music. The Dance must protray inspiration from a contemporary choreographer, using phrases and descriptive words from a collage board, teams will design choreography typical of their assigned choreographer

Instructor assess group efforts in producing group choreography as an assignment in which all members contributed to producing choreography for the task at hand. Assignment was to find a piece of art or a photographed which moved you. choreography should have a clear form, transititions that are seamless and movements that represent your piece of art or theme. Students should you as many choreographic devices to enhance their piece of choreography
