With this project you are going to explore an important aspect of the Civil Rights Movement. Use your imagination and come up with an essay, photograph, drawing, video, poster, PowerPoint, prezi, etc... Use plenty of creativity. No matter what type of project you choose it must clearly answer the 3 questions listed. It is expected that the project will contain correct grammar, spelling and proper language. This project is worth a test grade, and will help your grade for this class.

Write an essay of theme. Students must identify a theme that connects with the text. The theme must be based on an interpretation of literary elements (character, plot, setting, author's craft.). 5.RL.2

Create a Coat of Arms. Remember that the purpose of a Coat of Arms is to represent who you are to the world. Use symbols that reflect the values and characteristics of your family. Write a half page on why you chose the symbols that you chose, and what they represent about your family.
