Rickover Jr. High School Basketball Skills Assessment
This rubric is used to outline each individual athlete's performance on the day of tryouts. It is to judge their current condition as well as their future potential for the team. Each participant will be judged equally with no bias opinion. All decisions made will be for the maximum benefit of the Rickover Junior High basketball teams for the 2016-17 season. All decisions made are final.

HEALTH Writing Assignments
Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management. This rubric will also provide a means of grading homework assignments. The better the quality of your homework, hopefully, the better your grade. Pay attention to grammar, spelling, and sentence sturcture. Above all, be mindful of content. (i.e., what you're saying)

Forearm Stretch
Key Technique points: 1) Standing (preferable) with one arm straight in front of body and palm up/palm down. This works same for both parts of forearm (flexors and extensors) 2) Opposite hand gently grasps fingers and pulls towards the body 3) Fingers of stretching hand can be close or spread apart for different forearm feel but must be pulled towards the body 4) At end of both sides of stretch, student rotates wrist to shake and loosen wrist

Deltoid (shoulder stretch)
Key Technique points: 1) Standing (preferable) with one arm straight and reached across body at chest height 2) Palm of hand of stretching arm is facing BACKWARDS behind the body 3) Hand of opposite arm grabs stretched arm at the elbow 4) Hand at elbow pulls stretching arm towards the body and somewhat to the extended side

Lunge Stretch
Key Technique points: 1) Standing with one leg forward and bent to 90 degrees 2) Other leg is extended backwards with minimal if any bend in the knee 3) Toes of feet are both facing forward in same direction 4) Body is relaxed and front knee can be used to lean on for balance and back extended leg is stretch at front part of hip (hip flexors)

Half Straddle
Key Technique points: 1) On floor with one leg in butterfly position and other leg extended as in straddle 2) Lean towards extended leg happens at the hip 3) Arms extend in direction of toes of extended leg 4) Body is relaxed and option of leaning one hand on bent knee to push leg down is allowed

Hip Stretch (Similar to Yoga pigeon Pose)
Key Technique points: 1) On Floor legs bent to 90 degrees 2) One leg lays flat on floor and opposite leg bends backwards like in hurdling 3) Chest/torso leans forward and over the knee of flat laying leg 4) Body is relaxed and back leg bent and relaxed OR extended straight backward (as in pigeon pose)

Butterfly Stretch
Key Technique points: 1) On Floor knees bent and soles of feet together 2) Hands grasp at the instep or ankles 3) Pivot is at the hip joint and body leans forward into stretch 4) Elbows place pressure on the knees to also push legs downward

Straddle Stretch (to side)
Key Technique points: 1) On Floor legs extended outward as wide/far as possible 2) Legs are straight and toes are pointed straight upwards 3) Pivot is at the hip joint and body rotates and leans in direction of one particular leg 4) Body is relaxed and opposite arm of direction the body is leaning is reaching up and across the body towards the foot where the body is leaning
