Students will complete the ASQ on documented case student child in the laboratory classroom. The analysis must discuss communication, motor development, problem solving, and personal-social skills of the child including strengths and areas for growth. Report should include an accurate description of child, including personality traits, likes, dislikes, and preferences as documented under child characteristics of the ASQ. The analysis should be included within the template of the ASQ document.

This rubric will assist in setting up and grading the assessment checklist that is a combination of the two required course elements, child observation and developmental assessment.

Students will complete a research paper about assessment partnerships with families and with professional colleagues. The student will be required to research and identify local and state resources within the special needs arena that will best fit the child and families need for support. Length of Paper is 5-6 pages in APA Style. A bibliography of three resources must be documented in APA style and on a separate piece of paper at the end of the research paper.

Develop a 2-3 page resource flyer of support services your community provides parents (prospective parents and new parents of infants. Write a 1-2 paragraph review of the resources identifying any needs/gaps in services.

Complete a six week case study observation focusing on ASQ behaviors using case study observation templates. Reflective journal of observation should be submitted that is comprehensive and includes a reflection on what was done with the child. Include all six appropriate work samples. Student is expected to show comprehensive reflective thinking of the observation.
