Vocal Performance Rubric For Show Choir

Students will create an old school style hip hop song. With in this song they will demonstrate the skills of rapping, beat boxing, lyric writing and understanding song form.

Objective: Students will research how musical instruments make sounds and the four basic categories of musical instruments (string, wind, brass, and percussion). Students will construct and present a homemade musical instrument from recycled materials. They will be required to play a simple song on their instrument.

Student(s) will produce a group music video. The music video will begin with an audio mp3 file (played via phone separately from the video) and incorporate an original storyboard and lyric signs. Roles will include storyboard artist, director, camera operator, video editor (optional) and actors.

Guidelines for written review of a live musical performance

The students will work on their own to put together a poster for display. The poster will contain relevant information directly related to the topics/units that were learned in 6th grade music for the entire semester (January-May). Students will provide scenarios and demonstrate music concepts of theory, opera, music history and vocal technique in a creative and colorful poster/picture display. The poster will be designed on poster or presentation board (1/2 or full-sized poster board).

Students are to complete a report on a jazz musician from a selected list. They will present their findings to the class in accordance with this rubric, and submit their work to Mrs. Giles

Research the approved topic and question. Submit double spaced, 14 point TNR font following MLA guidelines. Include a bibliography citing resources used researching the paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the topic, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and bibliography.

Students are to create a movie trailer based on the novel they just read. Their job is to think about what the author was trying to convey and then capture that essence, complete with theme and symbols present in the short film.
