Expository Writing

Generalized rubric to cover a variety of note-taking formats in library class.

Students will create a trillion dollar footprint that represents their life with technology. Students will share what kind of information they would want to find about themselves online ten years from now. This footprint will consist of a wide variety of drawn images. The students will then present their footprints to the class, and it will be displayed on the wall of the classroom. Grades will be given according to the attached rubric.

Students will create a collage that represents their life with technology. This collage will consist of a wide variety of images and words that tell the simile of their technology life. Words and pictures MUST be cut out from the different magazines that will be given to them in class. Create a cartoon about cyberbullying or Internet Safety. Each comic strip will have 6+ panels. Each box should connect to the other and tell some type of story (you have a beginning, ,middle, and an end). You should address an internet safety/cyberbullying issue.

Students are to use social media formats as a way to communicate to people their idea about their selected fake news topic. Acceptable formats are a blog, FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, or Tumbler. Pages should be fake. Students can use a poster board, or paper to design what their page would look like.

Students are to create a fake Facebook profile using Word Processor, PowerPoint or keynote. Students will use biographical information from the course and research to create a profile. Students will also create status and wall posts, they will also use other historical figures to comment on the page appropriately. The information inputted should be based on research and should include the personal information, qualities, and contribution of the character and others to the United States

Skits for Cyberbullying. The rubric should consider the performance of the group as a whole, as well as individual contributions. 1. As a group, you will create a skit identifying at least 1 positive behavior and 1 negative behavior 2. You must show primary and secondary deviance within the skit 3. You must show external and internal thoughts 4. You must show how labeling (stigmas) occur within groups of people. 5. Skit should be between 3 to 5 minutes in length

Students will watch all nine modules of the Internet Society Digital Footprint. Each module will have a reflective writing prompt and four writing facts connected to the module.

Students will create their own advertisement or public service announcement to educate and persuade kids their own age not to engage in cyberbullying.
