Students were responsible to research an era of Theatre history in small groups of 4-6 and then teach the rest of the class in presentation format.

Analyzing a theater script is an important skill to have for any theater practitioner. An actor needs to understand script analysis in order to play his part well. A director needs it to be able to create a vision for the play. Designers need it to develop a clear, vivid lighting, stage or sound design. At first script analysis may seem complicated, but if the steps are followed specifically and with attention to detail, it can be very educational and fun.

This rubric outlines what students must do in order to successfully participate in a group project in Musical Theatre class.

Small group acting assignment using numbers only

Through improvisation students created informal scene illustrating concepts of character development and improvisational scene structure.

This activity is designed to have small groups create theatrically "big" scenes WITHOUT ANY SOUND OR DIALOGUE. Each participant is responsible for staying on task while helping to recreate the chosen story line and clarify the uniquely different main characters from that story line. The pantomimed scene should have a clear beginning, middle and end and clearly depict either one part of the story OR a funny synopsis of the whole story.

Students will create and perform a scene using mime. They will be expected to demonstrate the use of story structure, character and several mime illusions during their performance.
