The students were asked to create a newspaper article about the causes of the Revolutionary War. This includes the British Acts and taxes, the Boston Tea Party, and Boston Massacre. They are to write the article as if they were there, and to are to share their reactions and feelings.

This rubric is to be used to assess a student's final copy of a newspaper article. Pretend you are a reporter who just witnessed an important event during the time of the Revolutionary War (e.g., The Boston Massacre, Revolutionary War Figure, Battle). Include the 5 W's: Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. 1 1/2 pages, double-spaced, 12pt Times New Roman font with 1" margins.

The students will create newspaper with 3 articles based on the information they have obtained about the American Revolution. The newspaper should include a Revolutionary War Figure, a Revolutionary War Battle, and an article on Revolutionary War weapons and tactics. When the newspaper is completed, the students will present their newspaper to class and discuss what they learned about the American Revolution through this project.
