Why is 1984 still relevant today? Research credible sources and report back to the class. Think about: What is power, and how is it used/abused? What can we do about it? Can individuals change society? Is government-controlled media dangerous? How is technology changing our understanding of privacy? What's more important: privacy or security? Does language influence thought? How do we balance individual rights with the common good? Why do some individuals fight oppression while others don't?

The students will work in pairs to put together a poster of a literary device that will be displayed during a classroom "gallery walk."

This is the rubric for the final Macbeth Project.

Students will independently read a dystopian novel and create an analysis of the novel using a cereal box. The box must be covered and decorated with details from the book. The cereal box must also feature a prize that is of symbolic significance in the story.
