Who dares to teach must never cease to learn.  ~John Cotton Dana

You've reached the ePortfolio of Michelle Meissner. I am a first year 5th grade teacher at an inner-city private school as well as a first year grad school student at Marquette University. My teaching philosophy stems directly from the quote above:  "Who dares to teach, must never cease to learn." I believe that I cannot emphasize or help my students truly learn if I am not willing to expand my own mind and increase my own knowledge. Education is a fantastic field to work in, because each day you are able to learn something new.

Technology and I began our relationship on rocky terms. However, with a little patience, and a lot of commitment, we have come to have a very solid and strong relationship.  I now integrate technology into my classroom on a regular weekly basis--which my students absolutely love. We've made short videos and use computers as often as possible. We're working towards making our own classroom website, which will hopefully be up and running after break.

Throughout this portfolio you will find a common connecting theme of bringing technology to unpriviledged schools and students. I have found that as an inner-city teacher my students are lagging behind in their technological abilities, yet they have a great drive and sense of creativity which thrives when utilizing computers, video, or other technology influencers.

I hope you enjoy viewing the information here. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

~Michelle
