My name is Malissa Atkinson and I teach at Burnside Elementary. I have been teaching for five years. My first year of teaching, I taught in a special education resource room grades K-3. I then moved up to grades 4 and 5 in the resource room. The past three years I have been teaching fifth grade social studies. In my classroom, students actively engage in activities such as Act-It-Outs, research presentations, and interaction with the Promethean Board. My classroom is a very energetic place, where students are both challenged and supported.

I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BS degree in Special Education (P-12) and Social Studies (5-9). I am married and am the mother of two children. In my spare time I like to attend my daughters band contests and my sons football games.
