Welcome to the Washington D.C. Webquest! You will travel through this webquest to locate information, and then work to put it all together.   You just need to follow the necessary steps already laid out for you! You will need to do some searching of the Internet and of books to find information. So, are you ready to find out what you have to do?

You are on a mission in Washington D.C. Your mission has to do with the memorials and monuments that are in our nation’s capital. You are in charge of locating some pertinent information. You have a task to get accomplished!

Here is what you need to do…
  1. Locate at least two Monuments or Memorials that interest you. Find at least TWO pictures of each of these monuments/memorials. Locate the historical background of this memorial and find out why it is significant and why it is a national monument. Why do people travel all the way to Washington D.C. to see it? What makes it so popular? Tell me as much information as possible about your two monuments.
  2. You MUST keep daily journal pages. Copy and paste all important information from the websites into the journal pages. Don’t forget—you MUST reword your information in your slideshow! Don’t plagiarize!
  3. When you have finished researching, your end task will be a PowerPoint Presentation. You will present your project to the class on Thursday, May 15

To accomplish the task, you will follow a series of steps.

1.      First decide which two monuments/memorials you would like to research.
2.        Then, start your researching! You can examine what is on the websites I give you.  Find two pictures of each of your monuments/memorials.  Copy and paste all relevenat information into your daily journal pages.  Keep those daily journal pages!
3.        Make your PowerPoint presentation. Make it creative and unique!

4.        Present your project to the class on Thursday.

Conclusion
Congratulations!! You have created a project that highlights two of Washington D.C’s famous monuments and/or memorials. Now, you have an idea of why people from all over travel to our Nation’s capital! Can you think of another place that people from all over would travel to? For what reason would they travel to this place? Would you want to live in a place that has a high rate of tourists everyday?
