Ask Dr. Math is a question and answer service for K-12 math students and their teachers. A searchable archive is available by level and topic, together with a FAQ.
 
Pros:Many math activities at your fingertips.
 
Cons: Some activities may take more then 4 clicks to get to.
 
     Funbrain for Kids  
 
Funbrain is an interactive site that is ready to give you the educational brain challenge of your life. The interactive activities will give you many hours of pure fun and entertainment to keep you up on your toes on all different kinds of subjects such as math and reading.

Pros: Educational activites are animated with animal cartoons to keep everyone alert.  

Cons: Commercials take up some of the visual space on the front page. This site is rated preschool to 5th grade

 

 
For parents, kids and teens from the medical experts of The Nemours Foundation, a non-profit Organization devoted to childrenís health. There are literally thousands of in-depth features, articles, animations, games, and resources ? all original and all developed by experts in the health of children and teens
Pros: There are three different sections; one for parents, kids and teens.  It is also available in Spanish. 
 
Cons: More informative about health issues and less interactive activities.

You'll find an outstanding collection of craft ideas and fun activities, recipes, educational activities and more at this great site. There's also a teacher's corner and a parents link to other informative and interactive sites.
 
Pros: Resource links in one area for all your childs favorite places for fun and education.
 
Cons: This is a direct resource link site. Most links are not properly identified. For example, Creature Feature is a link to the Natioanl Geographic animal website.
 
 
    Nick
 
Nick.com is the internet extension of the television program with all the same characters you have come to love, such as Spongebob, Mr. Meaty, El Tigre, and Avatar.
 
Pros: See all your favorite Nickelodeon characters in various games, videos and educational activities. Some videos are in Spanish.
 
Cons: Children may want to stay on this site forever. Loud commercials.
 
 
 
Students.gov is an official U.S. government web site designed for college students and their families. Their mission is to provide you with easy access to information and resources from the U.S. government. All the info you need, in one place, from all parts of the government.
 
 
Pros: Government sponsorship gives wonderful resoursces for locating information on colleges and careers. Great site for preparing your child or student for college or a career.
 
Cons: This site is not geared for elementary level.
 
  
 
Teen Second Life is an international gathering place for teens 13-17 to make friends and to play, learn and create. In Second Life, teens can create and customize a digital self called an "avatar," fly through an ever-changing 3D landscape, chat and socialize with other teens from all over the world, and build anything from skyscrapers to virtual vehicles. It?s more than a videogame and much more than an Internet chat program ? it?s a boundless world of surprise and adventure that encourages teens to work together and use their imaginations.
 
Pros:This site is managed By the Linden Company and they take certain precautions to keep young adults safe from predators. They have a parent site and post saftey rules through out the site.
 
Cons: Ths site is only for ages 13-17. However, anyone can sign up on it.
 
 
 
Yahoo! Kids is a vivid site with interactive activites such as music, movies, games, chat, sports, news, and get homework help.
 
Pros: Yahoo! kids offers wonderful educational sites on science, social studies and other school subjects.
 
Cons: Parental support will be needed for children under 8 years of age. They may find it difficult to relate to the activities.
 
 
 
Looking for a great book about museums? Want to know what it?s like to walk on the Moon? Or need some tips on starting your own rock, stamp, or coin collection? Then check out Smithsonian for Students.

Pros:Students in middle school to high school will find this site resourceful for school projects.

Cons: Extensive reading format.

The award-winning site for children has over one million "citizens," mostly between the ages of 8 and 14, who gather from around the world to learn, create, chat, and have fun together.  A virtual 3-D world for curious minds where you can own land, build your own house, play simulation games, win prizes, chat, and help the community grow. 
 
Pros: New innovative way to have chats and learn about people from other places. Children will need parental consent.
 
Cons: Only for ages 8-14, However, because it is based on honesty anyone can create a virtual person.
